Okay Im almost done with my project, but I was wondering if anyone knew what Halliday ment on the Analysis of Pragmatics , Function of language section means. I just noticed it and I'm slightly confused. If anyone could get back to me that would be awesome! Thank you all bunches*

Those are the six functions of language under the conversational skills. So, you go from the part to the whole - 21 skills to 6 functions.
It's also on page 287 in our text if you want to read up on it there as well. :)
