Hello!
Hello everyone! My name is Megan Anderkin. I am from Rockcastle County. I am a junior at EKU and just changed my major to special education. I attended Georgetown College my freshman year and decided to transfer because I didn't like the small college feel, it was too much like high school. I look forward to this semester!
About Me
My name is Justin Howard and I am from Harlan, Kentucky. I attended a community college for one year and then I transfered to EKU.

EKU BookStore
This morning I received a notification from the EKU bookstore that my books were in, but when I went in to pick up the books they said they hadn't received them. Anyone else have this happen to them?
Have a safe weekend!
Just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. I will be traveling to Cincinnati to meet up with some girls that I spent my whole summer with. This summer I got to spend two months in Jos, Nigeria. It was one of the best time in my life. This is my third week back in the U.S. so I am missing it very much! I got to teach a kindergarten level class, but the ages of my kids were five to twelve. It was a learning experience for me and I already can't wait to go back!!

hey felica
you said you were looking for a job? I work at ABC daycare in Richmond. We are always hiring. Alot of college girls work there and it it hard to make schedules with everyone's different classes. So you should definitely think about it. It is great experience if you are wanting to become a teacher.
Hello
My name is Jackie and I live in Eubank. I am a mother to three wonderful girls and a grandmother to six; almost seven grandchildren. I am starting my fourth year at EKU. My major is Elementary Education; but I feel that with the diversity of students in our classrooms today, I need to develop skills that will help me to be a teacher that can offer all of my students the best education possible.
Job
Hey guys and girls,
I am looking for a job, I was a temp at ubs and they decided that they could not work with my schedual so if any one knows some where that might be hiring it would be a great help. Thanks in advanced.

As I was sitting here in my room just commenting on another post, I almost said 'see you next monday....' I then realized however that we will NOT be in class... Hope you all have a great long weekend! See you in two weeks. God Bless!

HELP!!!
Hey everyone! I was just wondering if anyone knew what Mrs. White said, when she emphasised that we should probably write down what she was saying if we cared about our grade because it would be on a test. It was when she first began teaching. I didnt catch on to what she said and never asked because I was too busy writing everything else down. Please help!!!
Thanks

Just curious!!
So I was just wondering.... Who all wanted to take a break in the middle of class and who would like to go straight through? Personally I would like to get out earlier, but having just sat through my night class this evening for just about the whole time, I think I would go crazy sitting still for that long haha.
My personal opinions
I learned quite a bit in the class. I knew that there were two different kinds of teachers but I now have names for them. I intend to be a teacher more focused on what the kids learn. When I was in school the teachers weren't really concerned that the special education students learned anything they just passed them on through school. In my opinion a child will only reach the expectations you have for it so in other words its the teacher who sets a child's limitations.I truly believe that the special needs students are capable of so much more than we tend to give them credit for. I did get to observe a wonderful teacher interacting with her students for one of my previous college classes and you could just see it in all that she did that she loved those kids and they were the most important things to her (not to mention she told them often how wonderful they were) and those kids learned a lot they were all very intelligent and on the oposite side of the spectrum I took a peer tutoring class in highschool in which I saw a teacher who sat behind her desk all day and never interacted with the students unless she was being observed by the principal, she left everything else to the aids and the students coming in to do the peer tutoring. In this class it was obvious with some of the students that no one ever cared if they learned anything there was a fifteen year old boy who couldn't have told you what his own last name was. I will never forget those kids...they're what inspired me. Because of this teacher they were suffering. I know I have a lot to offer my classroom in the future because I have seen both teaching methods in effect. I know that this is my passion and I hope to succeed in this field.
To Answer Professor White's Question...
Well I feel that I did learn something from last night's class, even though it was only a short time. I feel confident in saying that I can see the difference between speech, language, and communication. I like how we leaned the importance in making sure students learn! This is a crucial point in being a good teacher. When I look back at my favorite teachers, I liked the ones who cared about me actually grasping the material the most. It helps students when their teachers reach out to them.

Hello Leah here,
I'm still (!) fighting to straighten out my financial aid issues and so I haven't been able to get my books yet; if anyone is able to let photocopy there book I would be very appreciative. It is my hope that by the time that this class meets again that it will be all finished, but I try to prepare for the future when possible. Thank you for your time. ^_^

Hello class!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, my name is Regina Fultz. I am a Special Education major working on an MSD certification. I am also going to be able to teach p-5 with an emphasis in math k-12.After getting a feel for the class tonight I really think I am going to enjoy it.I currently work with a blind student and am learning braille. This student was normal until Feb. 2007 when she received sudo tumors behind her eyes due to a medication she was given by a quack doctor. She is going to be leaving shortly to go to KSB (Kentucky School for the Blind.) For those whom may not know, braille is very challenging but I tend to give it my all and help this student to succeed as long as I am going to be working with her.I have worked in special education as an assistant for this is my 19th year. I have witnessed so much negativity from classroom professionals that it isn't even funny. As a matter of fact it is very very sad to see the amount of teachers who are actually what I would call SO CALLED TEACHERS.My motto is and always will be: EVERY CHILD CAN LEARN NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCE. SOME MAY JUST NEED THAT EXTRA LOVE AND ATTENTION. Guess that's enough for this blog.

The First Day
I am very excited that I am taking this class!! After leaving class today, I found myself even more eger to start my career in special education! I am so happy that I'm am finally taking all my major courses. Professor White really seems passionate about her teaching. Even more, she cares that we learn the material.
Is anyone else taking any other SED classes this semester? I know I loaded up. Maybe I'll see some of you around.
